Event Description:
This two day class will walk you through all the steps in making a beautiful butcher block. 
 
This class will provide an introduction to the Wood Shop using the Butcher Block as a project.
 
The course will cover the different types of wood you can use and address the difference and between domestic and exotic, light and dark wood species.
 
You will be instructed on how to prepare your wood, including the cutting, milling, and attachment.
 
The 2nd class will be focused on finishing: planner action, orbit sander, mineral oil, cleaning, how to attach handles, maintenace and a short quiz about wood species.

Material used for the class: dark walnut , redwood, poplar, aspen, maple , mahogany, white oak and posibly cedar and hickory.
 
Specs for butcher block : roughly 12" by 22 "and roughly 1 1/4 thickness.
 
Those new to wood shop welcome.
