Donner Lake Turkey Trot
Join us for the 41st Annual Donner Lake Turkey Trot & Mashed Potato Mile
The idea of a fun race around Donner Lake was hatched back in 1976 by a small group of enthusiastic runners who wanted to make room for all the turkey and pies they'd be consuming in the weeks ahead. Today it's still going strong, attracting hundreds of locals and runners from Reno, Sacramento and the Bay Area. Beginning and ending at West End Beach, runners and walkers complete a 7 mile loop.
It's a fun and sort of wacky race that's held regardless of the weather. The walking component along with the "Mashed Potato Mile" make it a great family event too! ASCTC has upgraded timing systems from the old "self-timing" days, but keeps the fun and informal spirit alive.
Last year's Men's winner was Zach Yeager from Truckee with a time of 40:11.2. Maddie Tight from San Rafael took the Women's division with a time of 50:28.6.
The Turkey Trot is a fundraiser for ASC Training Center's junior Nordic programs.
