We live in a place described as a "High Wildfire Hazard Area." Fuel management and mitigation programs are critically important to the public's safety in reducing the fire risk. There are many significant projects conducted on an ongoing basis by various land managers throughout the area. Attendees will hear from Tahoe Donner Association Forester Bill Houdyschell, Joanne Roubique from Tahoe National Forest, Kevin Smith, General Manager Truckee Tahoe Airport District, and other organizations about some of the programs they conduct and their benefits. A brief overview will be provided by Fire Chief Bill Seline of the Truckee Fire Protection District.
The Nevada County Elections Department is preparing for its implementation of the Voter's Choice Act. Under this new act, voters will have more choice on how, when and where they vote. For the upcoming June election, every registered voter in Nevada County will receive a vote-by-mail ballot regardless of having signed up for one. Voters will not be limited to just voting by mail, they will be able to drop off their ballots in one of many secure drop-off locations throughout the county or they can vote in person. To explain more about these changes will be Gregory J. Diaz, Nevada County Clerk Recorder. Diaz will also address what is being done to ensure the election process is safe and secure. On the local front, Judy Price, Town Clerk for the Town of Truckee will be on hand to provide an overview of local elected positions that will be open, filing periods, time commitments, pay/benefits and more. Serving your community through an elected position is a worthy endeavor and can be one of the strongest ways to create change.
Good Morning Truckee is open to the public - everyone is invited. It is held the second Tuesday of every month at Truckee Tahoe Airport from 7:00-8:30am. Ticket price for general public is $12; Truckee Chamber members $10 and includes a hot breakfast and raffle ticket. Anyone who brings their own traveler coffee mug will receive an additional raffle ticket and chance to win great prizes.
