Minutes from Truckee but hidden from view\, Carpenter Valley offers grand scenery\, lush meadows carpeted by wildflowers\, and the chance to see wildlife in its natural environs. Unlike other Land Trust properties\, access to Lower Carpenter Valley is only available on 5 mile moderate docent-led hikes this summer while we work to install trails and parking to better protect this hotspot for biodiversity. The Land Trust acquired the property in 2017 and it will be fully open to the public in 2020 when the trails and infrastructure are in place. You can view this exquisite valley with these exclusive hikes led by docents who are available to guide the route and answer questions about the land and its inhabitants.\n\n\nHiking details: Enjoy a docent-led\, 5+mile hike on mostly flat terrain on somewhat rough ranch roads at about 6200 feet in elevation. You should be able to hike about 2.5 hours at a moderate pace with some stops.
