ASC Training Center Hosts Three Annual Favorite Events

Summer Running Series Combines Fitness and "Fun"draising

Wed July 4th: Truckee's Firecracker Mile

Sat August 4th: Sierra Crest Ultra Run

ASC Training Center plays host to three upcoming running events with something for all ages and abilities. From mile-long fun runs to 50k single-track Ultra runs, the events serve as fundraisers for ASC's Nordic and Biathlon programs.

A perennial favorite, the Firecracker Mile, is eagerly anticipated from year to year as the kick-off to Truckee’s Fourth of July parade. From babies in strollers to competitive athletes seeking the top prize, the Firecracker is exciting to participate in and also great fun to watch. There are three separate entry categories and registration is open online and in person at Tahoe Mountain Sports in Truckee from July 1 – 3^rd.

The 38^th Annual Squaw Mountain Run takes place on Sat., July 28. The 3.6 mile run or hike from the base of KT-22 to Squaw Valley USA’s High Camp is an annual favorite and offers serious runners, casual hikers and others an amazing experience. This year in addition to the Flower Walk at High Camp there will also be a Yoga for Life class, both of which come with a Cable Car ride to High Camp.
 
The Squaw Mountain Run is a wonderful event to share with family and friends. In addition to helping support ASC programs, 20 percent of all proceeds directly benefit the Tahoe Forest Health System Foundation for programs and services at the Gene Upshaw Memorial Cancer Center. For many, the event has become an annual ritual of celebration following personal struggles with cancer or in memory of someone they’ve lost. ASCTC has raised over $25,000 in the last six years for the TFHS Foundation. Register online now before prices jump.

The 4^th annual Sierra Crest Ultra Run, which boasts 50k and 30k distances and a 15k Fun Run, is slated for Sat., August 4. The race takes off from the Tahoe Donner Adventure Center with the Ultra courses traveling scenic single track and mountain trails down into Euer Valley and up over the Sierra Crest to the Training Center’s lodge on Donner Summit.
