Mountain Housing Council of Tahoe Truckee – One Year Update
Show Up. Join the Conversation. Accelerate Solutions.

KINGS BEACH, CA, April 18,2018 – The Mountain Housing Council of Tahoe Truckee (MHC) will host its Annual Housing Update on April 28, detailing the year’s progress and working with community members to identify and implement more housing solutions.

Hosted at the North Tahoe Event Center in Kings Beach on April 28 from 9 a.m. to noon, the meeting will cover the Council’s first year progress report, what the Council is working on next, a discussion panel, and a solutions pitch.

Collectively the Mountain Housing Council's 28 agencies, nonprofits, and businesses have already approved nearly 300 new achievable local housing units for construction, leveraged more than $40 million in funding for housing, and worked with employers, developers, and property owners to seek new solutions to the region’s housing crisis.

April 28th’s Annual Housing Update agenda topics include:
  • Development fees and their impact on achievable local housing
  • A regional opportunity map that identifies potential sites for new housing
  • Regional adoption and potential impact of the Council’s first policy recommendation: Achievable Local Housing definition
  • The impact of short-term rentals on the housing crisis
A solutions pitch gives community members an opportunity to pitch possible housing solutions to the audience. The Council will select and support an idea that generates enough public interest to form a cohort to explore the viability of that vision.
