TRUCKEE, Calif. (Mar. 15, 2018) – Grant money from the Lahontan Community Fund has aided the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe (HSTT) to adopt out the healthiest pets possible. By providing a high level of preventative care for the pets released back into the community, HSTT also maintains the health and well being of other pets in the community. It’s a win-win, and this work could not be accomplished without key community partners like the Lahontan Community Foundation.
The $5,000 grant from the Lahontan Community Foundation at the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation facilitated HSTT achieving their goal of disease testing, medically treating, vaccinating and performing sterilization surgeries on every pet that is stray, abandoned or relinquished within our community. This money specifically supported the preparation of over 30 pets for adoption.
With asssitance from community partners like the Lahontan Community Foundation, HSTT is able to perform these services and ensure every pet adopted from HSTT will be free of preventable communicable diseases and fully vaccinated before introduction into the general pet population.

The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe is saving 100 percent of the community's adoptable homeless pets. In addition they rescue animals from overcrowded shelters whenever space allows.
