Jeannine Gallant, Owner

How long have you been conducting business in Truckee?
After 15 years living and closing loans in the Bay Area, my husband and I moved here in 2001 to raise our family.  I immediately opened a Truckee office while also continuing to serve my Bay Area clients. Many of my Silicon Valley clients followed me with vacation home purchases. It’s always a thrill to introduce my clients to local Realtors.

Who are your clientele?
Primary and vacation home owners as well as investors looking for rental property.

What has been your most rewarding project?
Doing first time purchase loans for the children of my long standing clients is always an honor. I am a nurturer at heart and love to help home buyers navigate the loan process. I think of my clients as extended family. I have shared many a meal and attended many parties at their homes during my 30 year career.  Also, getting difficult transactions approved on loans that have been turned down by other lenders is super rewarding. Experience matters in this industry.

What has been the greatest challenge overall to your business?
The layers of bureaucracy in the loan industry now is staggering. These regulations ultimately cost the borrower more money because the costs of compliance are passed down. Unfortunately the borrower is not better informed, nor are our markets safer. It is more confusing than ever for everyone involved in the transaction.

What has been the most beneficial for your business?
Moving to Truckee! My business has actually grown since I moved here. For instance, when local buyers find out about my rates and service during a Tahoe purchase, they often ask me to refinance their primary residence in the Bay Area as well. Having offices in Campbell and Truckee is something my clients really appreciate.

What are your business goals?
I want to expand my business in the Tahoe area. I want to get out more, be even more involved in the community, and work with more of the local Realtors. Our rates are excellent and we have no Broker processing fee which helps the borrower to save money.

Any tips or pointers for other small business owners in the region interested in continued success like yours?
Honest hard work and the ability to offer a product with value compared to your competition is the key to success.
