A community wide celebration to kick-off summer and raise funds for student enrichment at
Sierra Expeditionary Learning School.

Truckee, CA (May 17, 2018) – School-hosted fundraising programs take place throughout the calendar year and Tahoe Truckee families are invited to participate in themed events that in turn generate funding for Parent-Teacher run organizations. Monies raised support academic initiatives for students and staff, inclusive of scholarships and tools to support STEAM curriculum in the classroom.

To mark the end of a school year, Sierra Expeditionary Learning School (SELS) hosts The Great Skate, which will take place on Friday, June 1 at Northstar California’s Village Skating Rink. This community wide event is from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. and includes roller-skating, DJ music, face painting and a silent auction.

This marquee event is a major funding source for the parent-teacher arm of SELS, and also gives community members an opportunity to join together for family-centric fun.

“The Great Skate is an entertaining and enjoyable evening for parents and students alike,” said David Manahan, Director of SELS. “Now in its fifth year, we have come to look forward to the participation from other local schools and collectively celebrate student accomplishment from the past year.”
