Truckee, California (February 15, 2017) - Truckee Chamber of Commerce, on behalf of the Truckee Tourism Business Improvement District, announces the 2017 Special Events Funding Program. Total funding available for 2017 is $105,200 for both existing (recurring) and new events. More information: http://truckee.com/eventfunding
The Truckee Special Events Funding Program is intended for events that attract out of town visitors, drive overnight stays of all types (nightly rentals in private homes, hotels, inns, lodges etc.), generate a positive economic impact (shopping, dining, etc.) for Truckee Business owners during the shoulder season or soft dates/midweek, in addition to enhancing local’s experiences of participating in Truckee events.
The program is designed to support and promote Truckee’s Brand Promise: “Truckee promises an authentic mountain town experience, with easy access to inspiring natural beauty, world class recreation and a vibrant community” . Additionally, the program seeks events aligned with Truckee’s quality of life core values as identified in survey and workshop results during the 2015-2016 Place-Based Marketing Initiative: healthy living, nature and beauty, family friendly, community-minded, arts, culture, and history.
Funding supports specific marketing and operational costs needed (see Guidelines) to promote and produce an event in order to target audiences who reside outside of the Truckee area who will spend the night, as well as locals who seek to enjoy a community experience. Measurable results will be recorded and recognized in regards to specific goals including economic impact, specific calendar dates: April through the first two weeks in June; September through the first two weeks in December (excluding holidays); midweek days.
Finalists will be invited to present in-person about their existing event or new event idea in order for the Committee to get to know the expertise of the event applicant, in addition to the opportunity to ask in-person questions about the application.

About Truckee Tourism Business Improvement District (TTBID)
The Truckee Tourism Business Improvement District oversees funding strategy and allocations for a 2% tax on all assessed homeowners renting a home or part of a home, in addition to all hoteliers, lodging and owners of inns and B&Bs within the Truckee town limits. The Truckee Chamber of Commerce staff faciliate the TTBID Committee which is overseen by the Truckee Chamber Board of Directors.
