Intro to Natural Dyeing

With an eye to keeping your garments in use season after season, over-dyeing is a way to add some new color to your closet. Working with non-synthetic materials (linen, cotton, wool and silk), this class will offer an entry point into dyeing over your clothes with seasonal plants and/or kitchen scraps. We’ll cover color theory, fibers, mordanting and preparing a dye bath. By the end of the day, you’ll have a set of swatches and a primer on how to start your own exploration of natural dyeing and extending the life of your clothes.
