Newly refurbished, the Tahoe Star Hotel was built in the 1870s by early settler and timberman George Schaffer. The hotel originally housed his family, then later it became lodging for his mill workers. Feel the spirit of the early emigrants, explorers, and lumberjacks with a stay at “The Star” for your romantic retreat or fun-filled family getaway!
Completely remodeled, the historic eight-room hotel features the modern conveniences you expect in fine lodging, excellent Wi-Fi to power your devices and clear cell phone receptivity, extra-comfortable beds and cozy bedding.
Located across the railroad tracks from downtown Truckee’s excellent dining options and unique shopping venues, feet from the Truckee River, and only 14 miles to Lake Tahoe, the newly renovated historic hotel is perfectly situated for Sierra summit exploration. With a multitude of nearby hiking trails, world-class ski destinations, and water sports available on our high-altitude lakes there are year-round adventures awaiting you!
