Name: Logging Railroads Trestle Tour
Date: July 21, 2024
Time: 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM PDT
Event Description:
Join the Truckee Donner Railroad Society for a driving and hiking tour of the century-old Hobart Estate logging railroad, including railroad grades, collapsed trestles, remains of log cars and much more. We’ll have maps, old photos, and stories to help you imagine what it was like to be a Truckee logger one hundred years ago. Part of the driving route is on unpaved roads, so an SUV or other high-clearance vehicle is advised. The tour includes 3-4 miles of hiking, split into several segments. Bring lunch, layered clothing, and good hiking shoes.
Location:
Meet at the corner of Roundhouse Way and the Donner Pass Road Extension, in front of the rotary snow plow and wrecking crane.
