Natural Pigment Watercolor

Let’s make watercolor paints! Regional artist Judi Pettite demonstrates the steps from choosing materials like plants, earth, and even mushrooms to create a paint pigment. Using a muller and slab, we’ll transform the pigment into a durable, lightfast watercolor. Participants will leave with a full range of samples and the skills to create their own set of paints in their personal palette. While the focus will be on water- based paints, students will receive an overview of other mediums as well.
