Name: Truckee '80s Retro Ski Bash Benefit
Date: February 1, 2019 - February 2, 2019
Website: Tickets
Event Description:

Come on out to Alibi Ale Works in Truckee for a ski party (21+) with a purpose! It’ll be all about experiencing the hey-day of the loud and loose '80s ski scene. Even better, this event all goes to benefit a great cause, as all proceeds from ticket sales will benefit The Courage Project, a non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of local children struggling with anxiety and depression.

The Vibe

Step back in time to the '80s ski scene! Think skinny skis, fanny packs and neon. Think Hot Dog: The Movie, Hot Tub Time Machine, Blizzard of Ahhs and Glen Plake. Be ready to dance to classic '80s tracks from new wave to big hair bands. To top it off, we’ll relive the golden age that was 1980s MTV, with the classic music videos for all those tunes running all night on Alibi’s big screen.

For those who might have attended the 30th anniversary celebration of “Hot Dog: The Movie” in 2014 at Squaw, you get the vibe!  For those who haven’t, check out the highlights from that party and expect another good dose of the same. (Bear in mind, however, this is not an official Hot Dog branded event, and we won’t be airing the film).

The Look

'80s ski fashion highly encouraged! Go all out and crush it with a neon one-piece or speedsuit if you can get your hands on one. Or go with whatever screams 80’s skiing to you! But don’t let lack of a killer outfit stop you from getting your '80s on, either. Dab on a little zinc oxide or toss on a pair of Vuarnets, and you’re good to go!

Can’t find something buried in your closet or storage bins? Scan the racks at local shops Unique Boutique or The Tahoe Forest Hospice Thrift. And if that doesn’t work, there’s always Junkee in Reno, Ebay or Amazon.

The Cause: About the Courage Project

Through mindful engagement in inspiring outdoor experiences, we aim to enhance the lives of children who experience anxiety and depression and we include their families. The Courage Project seeks to raise awareness and destigmatize mental health concerns, one adventure at a time.
