In its second year, the Truckee Craw Thaw Music Festival will bring an expanded music lineup that includes regional and national performers, food, drinks and family fun to historic downtown Truckee, California May 31-June 2, 2019. Designed to celebrate the spring thaw after a long winter season, the free New Orleans-inspired street festival will double in size in 2019 to include more musicians, a larger event space, and more food and drink options. A special farm-to-table brunch benefitting the California Wildfire Relief Fund has also been added.

“We’re thrilled to partner with JJ Morgan of Moody’s and Crux Events to bring this event back to Truckee in a format that is even bigger and better than last year,” said Colleen Dalton, brand marketing director for the Truckee Tourism Business Improvement District. “After a chilly weekend of outdoor music and festival fun last spring, we’ve moved this year’s event forward an entire month in order to truly celebrate the ‘thaw’ and change of season with our vibrant, music-loving community.”

The three-day music festival begins Friday, May 31 at 5 p.m. with DJ Bazooka Zac followed by two live bands, “The Lique,” a funky hip-hop jazz band from Las Vegas, and 2018 Grammy-nominated headliner “Dwayne Dopsie & The Zydeco Hellraisers,” bringing their high-energy style of Zydeco music all the way from Lafayette, LA. All performances will take place on a special outdoor stage set up on Church Street outside Moody’s Bistro, Bar & Beats in downtown Truckee.

The free entertainment will be complemented by Cajun-style street fare from Moody’s Bistro Bar & Beats, and tacos from Casa Baeza (available for purchase). Once the music winds down at 10 p.m., the after party will begin at Moody’s Bistro, Bar & Beats.

The festival resumes Saturday, June 1 at 12 p.m. with fun for the whole family including crawfish races and other games, and daytime performances by local youth music groups. Four live sets beginning at 4 p.m. will keep the fun going into the evening, led by Nevada City, California based “Farrow and the Peach Leaves” and Reno, Nevada’s “Failure Machine,” a trio with a sound that blends grunge with old school rhythm and blues. Saturday night co-headliners “Otis McDonald” and Jazz Mafia’s “Jazz Mafia's Heaviest Feather,” both of whom performed in 2018, return with a distinct sound that is sure to keep fans grooving into the evening.

On Sunday, June 2, an alfresco farm-to-table brunch in partnership with Kitchen Collab will be offered from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. including a NOLA-inspired brunch, adult beverages and live music. Brunch tickets will be available for purchase in advance for $100 per person and limited to 100 people, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the California Wildfire Relief Fund. Matinee programming is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, with doors at 12 p.m. and music beginning at 12:30 p.m. featuring “Brass Mafia,” followed by the vintage-inspired rock and roll of “John Courage” and the captivating country/Americana sounds of “Frankie Boots.”
