Join the Truckee Donner Railroad Society (TDRRS) for a driving and hiking tour on an old logging railroad grade of the Verdi Lumber Company Railroad (1900-1927). We will drive from Verdi to Dog Valley, then hike about 2 miles (4 miles total) of the Verdi Lumber grade, seeing ties, collapsed trestles, and other remnants of the railroad along the way. We’ll share old photos, maps, and history of Verdi Lumber and the logging railroads of the early 20th century. Most of the route is on rough unpaved roads, so a 4WD or AWD high-clearance vehicle is required. We may be able to arrange rides for those lacking a suitable vehicle. Please RSVP to tours@tdrrs.org to sign up.
