Masked by it's spectacular beauty\, this is a true mountain race unlike any other on the ultra-running circuit. A rare point-to-point course offering genuine support with fully stocked Aid Stations that is staffed by Truckee/Tahoe locals and experienced ultra-running volunteers. The race starts near the historic Emigrant Trail in Truckee\, California at the Prosser Family Campground before ascending (and descending) over 15\,000 at an average elevation of 7\,300 above sea level. The course travels over roughly 95% of demanding single-track trails\, while journeying through some of the most dramatic scenery and vistas the region has to offer.\n\nThe course will take you through the Tahoe National Forest\, Tahoe Donner\, and Euer Valley\, prior to climbing Hawk's Peak. Traversing along the Donner Lake Rim Trail you'll enter the hidden beauty of the Warren Lake Loop before summiting Basin\, Castle & Andesite Peaks. You'll then enter the notorious Hole in the Ground trail\, exiting into the famous Royal Gorge Cross Country Resort\, then ascending and running along Razorback Ridge. Enter the infamous Palisades! By way of Crow's Nest\, this 1.25 mile section of scrambling\, requires true grit. After your test of courage\, you'll arrive at the summit of Mt. Lincoln and Judah\, before your final descent into the finish at Sugar Bowl Resort.\n\nThe 1.25-mile Palisades section includes very technical\, risky & exposed scrambling. This may not be appropriate for those with a fear of heights. \n\n Click here to view all of the details on the Castle Peak 100k website. \n\nCastle Peak 100k is produced by the Donner Party Mountain Runners\, an all-volunteer non-profit organization.
