Drink Coffee Do Stuff's Ethiopia Guji Hambela Wamena natural process coffee recently took top honors at prestigious national event.

Truckee, CA - January 15, 2019 - DRINK COFFEE DO STUFF
(DCDS) is incredibly honored to announce that they have won a 2019 Good Food Award for their Ethiopia Guji Hambela Wamena natural process coffee. Up against some of the most renown coffee roasters from across the country, DCDS won a medal in the specialty coffee category. “We are proud to represent the Reno/Tahoe region with this prestigious achievement,” says DCDS founder, Nick Visconti, "and are stoked to roast our award winning coffees for everyone.”

The indigenous coffee trees of Ethiopia are as infinite as the pines of the high Sierra. Praised as the motherland of coffee, heirloom varietals in the Guji region create complex flavors and unparalleled sweetness. DCDS partnered with Catalyst Trade to offer their Hambela Wamena, the most decadent coffee they have ever offered with exotic flavor notes of honey and tropical fruit.

An annual recognition program now in its ninth year, the Good Food Awards celebrates American food and drink crafters who demonstrate a commitment to creating tasty, authentic and responsible products and in doing so, bettering our nation’s food system. Each of the 2019 winners demonstrates both a mastery of their craft and a commitment to maintaining exceptionally high social and environmental standards in their work.

This year, the Good Food Awards distinguished makers in sixteen categories (beer, charcuterie, cheese, chocolate, cider, coffee, confections, elixirs, fish, honey, oils, pantry, pickles, preserves, snacks, spirits). The 2019 winners come from 34 states and Washington, D.C., rising to the top amongst 2,035 entries in a blind tasting with 262 judges held in September. The highest scoring entries underwent a rigorous vetting process to verify they were not only exceptionally tasty, but met the sustainability and social responsibility criteria required to become a Good Food Award winner.

At just 13 months old, DCDS has found a great deal of early success with a unique brand story combined with a really high quality product. The brand concept began at 12,000ft on the Saas-Fee glacier in Switzerland during Visconti’s pro snowboard days. “I became fascinated, then obsessed with how European coffee culture was embedded into outdoor active lifestyle,” says Visconti, “so much so it was used as fuel source. There is so much brand identity in fuel, gear and beer, our aim is to complete the outdoor active lifestyle category with specialty coffee — to provide the Clifbar, St. Archer Brewing, Patagonia customer a coffee option that resonates with their lifestyle, consumer habits and quality standards.”

DRINK COFFEE DO STUFF is a speciality coffee company built with the belief that extraordinary coffee leads to an extraordinary life. The mantra began in the Swiss Alps in 2012 during founder Nick Visconti’s pro snowboard days and continues today at our Lake Tahoe headquarters. As specialty coffees grow at elevations similar to that of our roastery, all our coffees are sourced from the mountains and roasted in the mountains, resulting in unparalleled sweetness only achieved by altitude roasting. So whether you’re off to work or your next adventure, fuel up with DRINK COFFEE DO STUFF.
