It's Holiday Food Drive Season - Consider Cash over Cans!

Did you know that Project MANA receives approximately 75%, about 100,000 pounds, of our annual total donated food during the holiday season? All those donations at once can cause a strain our resources as well as create storage issues. As our community's mobile food pantry, serving the 1 in 7 community members facing food insecurity in North Lake Tahoe and Truckee,  30% of whom are under the age of 18, we have great wholesale purchasing power and are able to source and buy the nutritional foods we need at a very low cost, giving our clients more diversity and nutrition per meal  than physical donations may provide.

This holiday season, we're inviting your business or organization to host a Virtual Food Drive.

Benefits of a Virtual Food Drive:

  1. Just $10 provides 5 meals!  At $2.08 per meal distributed, with our buying and planning power we are able to provide meals that meet My Plate nutritional standards.

  2. Create a greater impact by allowing Project MANA to purchase exactly the food we need, precisely when we need it.

  3. Reduce the hard costs and carbon footprint related to transportation, collection boxes, storage, personnel, and other operational costs.

  4. Eliminate the need for participants to remember to bring in their donations as they can donate online, and receive an immediate receipt.

  5. It's fun and rewarding! Project MANA will provide customizable informational and promotional tools.
