FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

This popular Northern Sierra mountain town offers new experiences ranging from a women-led ski and snowboard shop, to new restaurants and a harvest-to-order service.

TRUCKEE, Calif. (Dec. 11, 2019) Recently named among the top 10 “Best Ski Towns” in USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards 2019, the winter season is off to a strong start in Truckee, California following the accumulation of over 100 inches of fresh snow since Thanksgiving. This season, in addition to convenient access to world-class winter recreation at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, Northstar California, Tahoe Donner, Sugar Bowl, Royal Gorge, Boreal and Woodward Tahoe, visitors will also find one of only 14 California Cultural Districts in the state. This winter, new restaurants, locally crafted beer, harvest-to-order service and a new flagship store for women-owned ski brand Coalition Snow build on Truckee’s authentic mountain town offering.

“The opening of creative new businesses in time for the start of the winter season contribute to the vibrancy of our mountain town,” said Colleen Dalton, director of tourism and economic programs for VISIT TRUCKEE. “In addition to long-time favorite restaurants, businesses such as the Tahoe Food Hub that source locally grown and harvested food truly speak to the local vibe and authenticity of this place, and show visitors what makes our community and cultural district special.”

Here’s what’s new and not to miss when in Truckee this winter and beyond:

Bourbon Pub at Northstar: Internationally acclaimed restaurateur Michael Mina brings reimagined pub fare to the Village at Northstar at Bourbon Pub. Staples include truffle tater tots, cheddar brats wrapped in puff pastry with jalapeno mustard, and entrees including al pastor pork ribs, mesquite grilled steaks and fennel stuffed salmon. Bourbon Pub will also serve cocktails, domestic wines and beer. northstarcalifornia.com

The Good Wolf Brewing: A newcomer to the Truckee brewing scene, The Good Wolf hand crafts “hop forward” and “forest inspired” beers. Beer enthusiasts are invited to visit the recently opened taproom on Industrial Way Tuesday through Sunday to taste suds including the “Neon Rainbow,” a juicy IPA hopped with Australian Galaxy and rounded out with Mosaic to present a tropical aroma. thegoodwolfbrewing.com

Coalition Snow: A women-owned and operated brand dedicated to creating award-winning and athlete approved skis and snowboards opened its flagship store in Truckee last month. Visit the “Coalition Clubhouse” from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (1 p.m. on powder days) Wednesday through Sunday to see, touch and shop the entire line, rent or demo skis and snowboards, peruse a curated collection of goods from women-owned brands and artists, and chat up the brand’s founders. coalitionsnow.com

Mountain Lotus: Opening early this winter in a former Catholic church that was built in the 1890s in historic downtown Truckee, Mountain Lotus’s new studio will feature Bikram hot yoga, warm yin, inferno hot Pilates, hot vinyasa, community events and more. The studio can also accommodate private yoga classes. mountainlotusyoga.com

Tahoe Food Hub – Harvest-to-Order Service: Perfect for visitors coming to Tahoe for the weekend who want to eat fresh, regionally-sourced food without lugging groceries up, Tahoe Food Hub’s new Harvest-to-Order service makes it easy to order veggies, fruit, pasture-raised meats, eggs and dairy as well as salsa, kimchi, oils, beans and more. Orders generate a pick list for local farms who harvest fresh the next day, and Tahoe Food Hub gets it ready for pick-up at the Farm Shop located near the Truckee-Tahoe Airport Tuesday-Saturday. tahoefoodhub.org
