Truckee, CA – Tahoe Food Hub is moving their Farm Shop and warehouse to the Truckee-Tahoe Airport. The Farm Shop will open to the public on May 28th in its new location at 12116 Chandelle Way, Unit D-1 next to the Truckee Roundhouse.

With the support of the Truckee-Tahoe community, Tahoe Food Hub raised over $80,000 through their Make the Move fund drive! Those funds helped transform one of the warehouses at the Truckee Airport into a hub for local food distribution. Tahoe Food Hub would like to give a big thanks to the Truckee-Tahoe Airport who has been a critical partner in making this dream a reality and bringing this opportunity to Truckee.

“We have always said, it will take a community to build a food system and this fundraising effort truly demonstrated that,” says Susie Sutphin, Executive Director. “We want to thank all the people who made donations over the past year and participated in our fundraising events. And we would like to especially thank all the businesses who donated their in-kind services to build-out the new warehouse: Kelly Brothers Painting, MWA Architects, Bassets Flooring, Nevada Western Supply, Truckee Tahoe Lumber, Summit Refrigeration, Rice Team Mortgage, Dan Goddard Construction and New Moon Natural Foods.”

Tahoe Food Hub is celebrating its 6th year. For four years, Tahoe Food Hub (TFH) called the Casa Adina Building at the bottom of Alpine Meadows Road home. It is bittersweet to leave but growing from a 1,200sf warehouse to 4,000sf will increase TFH’s capacity to support more farms and bring more local food to Tahoe.

With a larger, more centralized location, the Farm Shop will be open more days and have longer hours than in its previous location. It will be open five days a week: Tuesday to Friday from 11am to 7pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm. The Farm Shop will feature local produce from more than 40 farms and ranches within 150 miles of North Lake Tahoe. While the Farm Shop only carries produce that is in season for Northern California, all year long there are pasture-raised eggs, grass-finished meats and a variety of specialty products from olive oils and sauces, to dairy and bread.

As an added convenience, TFH will launch its Harvest-to-Order program, an online farmers’ market. Consumers can shop online and pick-up their customized local food box at the Farm Shop. Check out taheofoodhub.org for more information and sign-up for their newsletter to stay updated on workshops and events throughout the year. Stop by for the Grand Opening on Tuesday, May 28th from 11am to 7pm and see the NEW warehouse and Farm Shop.

Tahoe Food Hub is a 501(c)-3, non-profit organization. Our mission is to galvanize our community to build a regional, sustainable and equitable food system. We are supporting regenerative agriculture and addressing local food access challenges at a systems level by creating a local food system for the Lake Tahoe/Reno area. A local food system addresses the needs of diversified, family farms that are looking for fair market opportunities while increasing access to local food for our mountain community. Tahoe Food Hub still has a $30,000 funding gap to cover the final move and build-out expenses. If you are interested in donating, please visit tahoefoodhub.org.
