Truckee, CA - Help Tahoe Food Hub “Make the Move” to their new Truckee warehouse and Farm Shop. The Make the Move fund-drive launches August 14th with a Pitchfork & the Pan pop-up farm dinner. Donate through September 30, 2018 at taheofoodhub.org to help bring local food to Tahoe and support family farms! Tahoe Food Hub (TFH) has been working to connect and strengthen the North Lake Tahoe regional food system since 2013. They have outgrown their current location at the bottom of Alpine Meadows Road and need a larger warehouse and Farm Shop in order to support more local farms and increase access to healthy, fresh, sustainably-grown food for communities in the Tahoe Basin. TFH needs their community more than ever to help make this next move! The goal is to raise $160,000 by September 30, 2018. Funds raised will help TFH move into a warehouse at the Truckee-Tahoe Airport. The biggest investment will be a 1,400sf walk-in cooler/freezer which will give TFH the needed capacity to efficiently distribute local food around the region. With additional space, TFH will be able to develop an online store for consumers to customize local food boxes; be able to expand their Farm Shop to a more centralized facility with more products; and be able to move a larger volume of food to better serve our schools, hospitals and hunger relief agencies.

To support the Make the Move campaign, a crowdfund site has been established at tahoefoodhub.org. At each donation level there are gifts and perks available. Choose from a stainless-steel water bottle and Farm Shop discount card to a local food box and private farm to table dinner. Donors can opt-out of receiving gifts and make a single-cash contribution. Supporters can also connect with Tahoe Food Hub and learn about Make the Move at one of their Pitchfork & the Pan pop-up Farm Dinners: August 14th at Truckee River Regional Park with Chef Aurora Wellise and Chef Scott Yorkey, August 28th at Lost Trail Lodge with Chef Wyatt Dufresne and September 11th at Waddle Ranch with Chef Alex Tolger. Farm to Table dinners originated “on the farm” where one chef and one farmer worked together to grow and prepare an amazing meal of fresh, seasonal ingredients. Pitchfork & the Pan, brings that collaboration to Tahoe. Each dinner will spotlight the produce of one farm and feature a local rancher and California wine. Come meet the farmers who grow our food, hear their story and celebrate in the harvest.

The Pitchfork & the Pan dinners are made possible by the generous support of local sponsors including Rice Team Mortgage, Kelly Brothers Painting, Simple Power, Tahoe Vistana Inn, Big Tar Wines, Fifty-Ffity Brewing and Kitchen Collab. This is YOUR community food hub! TFH has grown because YOU have voted with your fork, demanding more local food in our restaurants, schools, grocers and home kitchens. Help increase access to local food by donating to the Make the Move campaign. No matter the amount, you will be making a difference to make your community healthier and our local farms stronger!
