    Atelier Truckee is a place for tactile living that connects artists, collectors and community through workshops, supplies and limited edition art pieces. The retail-studio space is nestled in historic, downtown Truckee, California, just doors down from the husband-and-wife team Brian Hess and Heather River’s flagship shop, Bespoke.

    Founded in 2015, Atelier offers a collection of hand-sourced 2-D prints, paintings and designer art wares and an exclusive collection of artist supplies, materials and yarn.

    Atelier strives to be the creative hub of the local art community by hosting workshops taught by the area’s most sought after artists, illustrators, designers, weavers, painters and more who share the vision to create always and inspire all.

    Restaurant Trokay and Atelier are pairing up again to bring back their cheese making course this summer. Join them for an educational culinary adventure. This workshop will be taught by Restaurant Trokay owner Nyna Weatherson, former head cheesemonger at the world famous Greenwich Village cheese shop, Murray’s. Weatherson will pass on her vast knowledge of cheese and skill guiding students through the mozzarella making process. Students will make their very own batch of mozzarella, all while enjoying a glass of a perfectly paired draft brew.     In this introductory drawing workshop, local artist Anke Hass will guide students through developing the skill to draw from observation and translating the natural world to the two dimensional surface. Using the formal elements of line, shape, texture, composition, and value we will experience and discuss the process of building a drawing. By practicing a variety of methods and using a variety of drawing materials, we will develop a more complete understanding of the visual language needed to express different objects in nature. Exposure to a diversity of nature-based imagery including animals, trees and plants will serve as examples and motivation.
