This two-part course is designed for those knitters comfortable with knit and purl stitches, and who are ready to move on from knitting scarves to a sweater project. On Friday evening, students will create samples in order to become familiar with different cast-on methods, creating ribbing, increasing and decreasing at row ends, using markers to create cabling or patterns, binding off and reading pattern abbreviations. On Saturday morning, students will bring in their sweater projects and begin by making swatches for sizing, read over their sweater pattern and then learn to stitch the fabric together. Students can begin their own sweater projects with guidance from the instructor. ...read more
